Fisher Went Fishing For Fish

Say that five times fast. Ha! I’m not sure if it was a play off of his name, the fact that his family enjoys fishing, or it was just a really cute idea for a cake smash but baby Fisher’s parents decided that a fishing themed cake smash would be the way to go for this little boy turning one. Fisher came to my studio as a newborn and I was so excited to see him again for his cake smash photography session a year later. He has grown so much and is an absolute sweetheart! We played and laughed and snuggled. We danced and clapped and hugged.

The Cake Smash session started off with Courtney (mom) picking out a few outfits I had laid out for the session. The adorable sweater romper was so incredibly handsome on this young man. Just like a lazy day at the river, baby Fisher went barefoot and bare chest with some cute suspenders holding up his shorts for the mess making portion of the day.

I had ordered and set aside a very special outfit for Fisher weeks before his cake smash. We had to squeeeeeeeze him into it but it was well worth it. You see, during Fisher’s newborn photography session I adorned his precious head with an eskimo hat. Mom and Dad have lived in Alaska when they met and married and Fisher’s grandparents are still there. When I saw a one year sized romper with an attached eskimo hood, I knew it would be perfect for this occasion! This sweet baby will forever be my Eskimo Fisher(man).

There is no photograph important enough to rush a newborn.

If your baby needs to eat, we stop. If they need to be soothed, we stop. If they need a break, we take one. And if they don’t like a particular pose, we move on.

Because your newborn session isn’t a race to get through a shot list.

Some of the photographs I love most happen because we slowed down. Because baby was comfortable. Because mom needed a minute. Because everyone simply relaxed and let the session unfold.

Beautiful newborn photography and a calm, baby-led experience should go hand in hand.
