When Is the Best Time for Newborn Photos?
The ideal time for newborn photography is within the first 7-14 days after birth. During this window, babies tend to sleep more deeply, curl naturally into those sweet newborn poses, and are generally more comfortable being gently positioned. However, life doesn’t always go according to plan, and that’s perfectly okay.
I happily photograph newborns up to 8 weeks old and beyond. Whether your baby arrives early, spends time in the NICU, or you’re simply adjusting to life as a new parent, beautiful newborn photographs are possible at every stage.
The best time to book your newborn session is during your second trimester or early third trimester. This ensures availability around your due date while giving us flexibility should your little one decide to arrive early or late.
Once your precious bundle of joy has made his or her debut you will need to contact me and we will then set a definitive date for your newborn photography session. Once a date has been selected, I will send you additional information with tips to how to best prepare for session.
What to Expect During Your Newborn Photography Session
My newborn sessions are intentionally calm and unhurried.
When you arrive, everything is prepared so you can relax and enjoy the experience. Sessions typically last between 1.5 and 3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and cuddles.
