Richmond VA Newborn Baby Boy

A Sweet Newborn Baby Boy Photography Session

Orrin was the first newborn baby boy I had in the Jen Jacobowitz Photography studio this year.  Like several others, recently, his parents drove from the Fredericksburg area to the Short Pump area of Richmond, VA where my studio is located.  Dad is in the military and they will therefore be moving in six months or so.  It saddens me because I know that this is a precious baby I will not have the chance to photograph regularly.  However, Orrin is so incredibly lucky to have such amazing parents and a father who devoutly serves this country.

I could tell you that the session was sunshine and roses… but it wasn’t, and that is OK!  I like to be honest and real so that other parents who may be reading know the possibilities of what to expect.  This sweet little baby started off not wanting to sleep.  No problem.  He took an exceptionally long time to eat.  No problem.  He did not want to be naked.  Again, no problem.  When I am photographing a newborn, I am on their time.  It’s not the other way around.  Parents are often apologizing to me because their child usually sleeps or because the baby had an accident on my blanket (or me).  Please know, this is all part of my job… and I love every last bit of it.  The end result is always worth it.  Our newborn session took a long time but on the flip side I got to know Orrin’s parents so much better.  For that I am grateful.  I rocked, and swaddled, hummed and shushed.  I waited it out, wrapped him up and finally got down to business… when he was ready.
