Over the years I have gravitated to where my heart has pulled me, and that is into connection and storytelling. I still love all the cute baby props and poses so I incorporate those as well. But those patent and family pics… ugh… they get me right in the feels.

Second: This was one of my most favorite newborn sessions I’ve done in a long time! It’s not everyday that you get twins in the studio… and it had been a long time since I’d had any. But what made this one even more special is that I did it by myself. In the past, when I’ve had twins, I’ve called in help, my go-to girl, Kelly.

This time, however, I wanted to lean into my newer approach of simpler lifestyle images where the session unfolds naturally. There was a deep sense of calm and peace with my decision and it worked out perfectly. Each baby had their turn in each set up and no precise pose was expected. I let them lead the way.

Nothing makes my heart happier than capturing the genuine emotions and love that a new baby brings to a family.

I still love doing all my perfectly posed newborn shots but the lifestyle images really give me all the feels.

You’ll notice that one thing I do a little differently in my newborn sessions is that I take the “beanbag/blanket” poses off of the blanket. I do those poses on cute little props or the studio bed so that your family images and your posed newborn images are cohesive and true to my style.
