SO MANY CHRISTMAS BABIES!! :) No matter how busy I am, how crazy my schedule may be… I simply can NOT say “no” to a newborn. Haha! Baby Donnie’s mom, Allyson, contacted me via email through my website on December 11th. On December 12th I was photographing this sweet little baby! He was a mere 10 days old and, to both me and Allyson, time was of the essence! For whatever reason, Allyson’s previous newborn photographer was no longer able to photograph Donnie and she knew the window for newborn photos was a small one. Luckily, she and her husband are neighbors to Laura and Blake… sweet little Olivia’s parents. Allyson loved the photos of Olivia and immediately emailed me to see if I could squeeze them in. If you remember what I’ve said before about newborns then you know that I just can not resist them…. even if it was the middle of Christmas season and my schedule was booked everyday. I WILL make room! Hahaha!
I sat there the night before the photoshoot talking with Allyson to find out what Donnie’s nursery theme and/or colors were and to my delight it sounded like I was going to be able to incorporate some things into his shoot that I had been wanting to do for quite a while. Even with just one evening’s notice I was lucky enough to be able to pull together a stylish newborn session that I was hoping they would love… and the fact that it involved a little fox and wintery colors was an added bonus for me!
Sweet baby Donnie wanted to spend most of his time snuggled up to his beautiful mama. He wasn’t very interested in sleeping or really even being held by me. He was a wiggly little worm so it was important that he be asleep for the poses we wanted to be able to put him in. Donnie proved that he was running this show and I quickly became A-OK with that idea. I threw my own agenda out the window and simply went with what he dictated. I see a great leadership role in this young man’s future. :) At the end though… my patience and my determination outlasted his unwillingness to sleep and be curled up into a ball. Alas, he could fight his heavy eye lids no more and at the VERY END (when Allyson was packing everything up) Donnie succumbed to sleep…. and I got the last word on how this photo session would go. Haha!
I love this little dude! I hope to meet his big brother and sister very soon!
