Welcome Baby Declan!
Sweet baby Declan’s newborn photography session went so smoothly. He was so content to let me pose him and perfect all the tiny little details… as long as he had his pacifier. Haha! I always strongly encourage moms and dads to bring a pacifier. However, I will certainly honor anyone’s wishes to not use one. I understand it is a personal choice. In fact, when my first son was born I was adamant that he would not be given a paci. To make a long story short, we discovered my son had a sucking fixation. Rather than sit with my finger in his mouth all day as one nurse had advised, we opted to try the paci after all.
Baby Declan’s parents were kind of in the same boat. Because of feeding concerns they had been advised to perhaps withhold the pacifier if possible. And so far it had not been a problem. They brought one with them anyway after reading my encouragement and told me I was welcome to use it if I needed to. I typically start my newborn session with my hardest pose first, as long as baby is pretty good and sleepy. This pose requires the soothing of a paci 99% of the time. This was true in Declan’s case as well. As soon as it was offered to him he welcomed it like an old best friend. From then on out Declan would stir and fuss when being handled or repositioned but was instantly calmed with his paci. Mom and Dad were quite surprised. They initially thought they would only use the paci for this particular day and event but after seeing how well he would calm himself back into a sleep they started reconsidering.
Things Don’t Always Go As Planned
When we met again for their Gallery Reveal and Order Session they told me he had not been using it much in the last week but they would use it as necessary… and he was doing just fine with feeding as well. Why do I tell you all of this? Well, sometimes as new moms (and dads) we tend to get a lot of advice. We tend to make up our minds based on said advice and anything else scares us. I just want you to know that it’s OK. It’s ok to detour from the original plan a little bit. It’s OK to change your mind. Every child is different. Every parent is different. Angella and Patrick kept an open mind and because of that we were able to get an amazing gallery full of cute Baby Declan.
Declan will be well represented around his house. Mom and Dad opted to get two gorgeous 16×20 hand stretched canvases, a beautiful barn wood framed print, 50 cute birth announcements, and a cream linen folio box with 20 matted images. To round out their Print Collection they received all of their digital images, a digital birth announcement to share on social media, and a gallery app so that they will have their pictures with them on their phones or tablets everywhere they go.
