Once again I have gotten totally behind on my blogging. The holiday season rushed in with many, many sessions… and for that I am incredibly grateful. Unfortunately this also meant that my poor little blog got neglected…. again. January is proving to be yet another busy month (again, grateful) but since I have today open in my schedule I thought now would be a good time to get caught up. Warning…. if you are subscribed to my blog via RSS or follow my Jen Jacobowitz Photography page on FB you very well may get overloaded with blog posts today. Hopefully you will enjoy looking at all of these photos as much as I enjoyed spending time with the families capturing them.
First up on my “get caught up list” is the Johnson family. Sally contacted me several months ago wanting to get family pictures in the fall, close to the holidays. Though I had only taught her daughter for one month in Pre-K as a substitute teacher, Sally still remembered me and I her. She is one of the sweetest women you will ever have the pleasure of meeting in your entire life… at least for me. I’m not so sure how many of you will just randomly cross paths with her. :) Her husband is equally as kind and fun and their children are, seriously, ANGELS! Oh!…. and the dog. That sweet, awesome, not so little pup! Oh how I adore that doggy!
Before I show you the photos from our session I have to tell you something quite funny that happened while we were in the field shooting. Abby, Sally’s daughter, does gymnastics. She was cartwheeling and roundoff-ing all over the place. Try as I may, I never could really get a good shot of it due to the clothing that was being worn. I overheard Sally and Abby talking about doing a backhandspring. From what I thought I heard I got the impression that Abby might be a little hesitant to do such a trick. In an effort to persuade her I told her that if she did one, I would do one. Yes, you read that right. Little did I know…. Abby wasn’t scared. Maybe she was second guessing her shoes or attire… but abilities? No. So off she ran…. roundoff, backhandspring. Now it was my turn. I set my camera down, took off my scarf and whatever else I had on at the time, and turned to get into position. I decided to forego the roundoff part. Why, I’m not sure. I stood there ready…. but not really. Sally giggled and gave me full permission to back out of my agreement, but that’s just not who I am. Back I went, and down I came. It wasn’t pretty, and my arms no longer held the full weight of my body… but I DID IT! Hahaha! I also had a headache for the remainder of our session. Luckily we were towards the end of it anyway. I always aim to make my sessions unique from one to the other…. I think I succeeded with that mission. Haha!
Ok… now take a peek at our time spent together…
