I’ll be honest, I don’t do a very good job at keeping in touch with many people from high school. There are a few that I stay up to date with on Facebook because, back in the day, they were some of my closest friends. However, there are a few people out there that just don’t have a Facebook page and I often wonder about them. Sadly, I will get to see them during times of grief and sorrow but again, we all get busy with our lives and fail to really keep in touch. I was delighted when I opened my email inbox one day to find that my sweet high school friend, Carla, had contacted me regarding her great-nephew’s first birthday!
Through lots of communication we agreed on a themed cake smash for this special little dude… a SUPERHERO cake smash! The thought of it got me absolutely giddy and I could not wait to put it all in action. I already had it all in my head. You see, my youngest son was, and still is, crazy about superheroes. His bedroom is decorated in vintage superhero comic book pictures, posters, signs, and bedding. We’ve been through two superhero themed rooms for him, the latter being a bit more “sophisticated” that he can continue to grow into throughout his middle school years. With this many years of being the mom to one of the biggest superhero fans to ever live, I had quite the arsenal of things I could use for this cake smash. I actually had to hold myself back a bit so that the set did not get completely overwhelmed and lose the focus of the super cute birthday boy!
Vanni, short for Giovanni, had a blast with his cake smash. He was so easy to work with and I made sure I got lots of love and snuggles before he left my studio. He is now a feature in my studio as his 16×20 black and white “batman” canvas adorns one of my walls. I present to you…. Vanni….
